Nocturne Falls Series by Kristen Painter

The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls #1) available for purchase on Amazon as a freebie

Kristen Painter created a new world yet again. This one is lighter than House of Comarre, Crescent City and Sin City Collectors. It is very well developed and beautifully written. I am looking forward to the next books and further developments, because this book left me wanting to know more about Nocturne falls and its inhabitants. Some parts even had me laughing out loud.

Without giving any spoilers, I can say that characters are very lovable, each in their own way, the story in interesting, funny, intense, and the whole idea is original. Our heroine Delaney is strong and smart, the hero Hugh is lovable, regardless of how much he tries to be otherwise. There are proper villains and a good group of supporting characters. Nocturne Falls is a tourist attraction, a place where supernaturals don’t have to hide as Halloween is celebrated every day. Delaney ends up in Nocturne Falls by chance, and Hugh gets pushed into the situation, however, the initial chemistry is there and it is developing gradually through their interactions and various situations.

All in all, I loved the book, I read it in one sitting, and I highly recommend it if you need to relax and enjoy some well written easy paranormal romance.

The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride Prologue (Nocturne Falls 0.5)

There is an additional prologue to this book. The prologue was originally taken out of the book, although after re-reading it, I don’t understand why. It does not portray Hugh in a bad light as it was hinted, but more like a deeply heartbroken man who gave up on ever having someone to love again. It is a very short story of Hugh on a date.
The prologue is available for download on the author’s website.

The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls #2) available for purchase on Amazon

This is the second Nocturne Falls story and it is just beautiful. The story revolves around two wolf shifter people stuck in a situation beyond their control, and making the best of it. What I liked best about this book is that both characters are strong, intelligent and reasonable, which is like a signature thing for Kristin Painter.

The plot is very interesting, very surprising in some places, and it is a real plot and not a story based on bad choices, which is also a common characteristic of Painter’s writing. It is very well written and it flows beautifully, I think it took me about 3 hours to read the book and it left me with a smile on my face. As usual, the supporting characters are very well developed. Nocturne falls is just a beautiful place that is so well described, it makes me feel like it is real and the story really took me there.

In this book, as well as the first one, I felt sometimes like I am walking down the street in nocturne Falls or running through the woods or standing in front of a house. This series is lighter than other works by Kristen Painter and it is not a huge problem if you read it in wrong order. I definitely recommend it for the story, characters, atmosphere and mood improving quality. I am very much looking forward to more books. Hopefully, a lot more.

The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3) available for purchase on Amazon

Gargoyle Gets His Girl is the third book in the Nocturne Falls series. It was especially interesting for me because I have not read much about gargoyles and fairies in the past and this was a new adventure for me. As most of Kristen Painter’s books, this one is a beautiful and warm love story. It is about new beginnings and dealing with the past issues.

Again we have a strong likeable hero and a strong likeable heroine. To be honest, if they were any different I would not be interested in reading the book. I love the flow of the story and I love the good positive and happy ending, as I have come to expect from Kristen Painter. Her books make me feel good and this one is not an exception. Don’t get me wrong, there are some heavy moments in this book, and there are some serious villains but unlike in some books, problems happen before the actual end of the book and there is no clifhanger.

I highly recommend this book, as I actually read it twice. I am very much looking forward to the sequel and I hope the series continues for a long time.

The Professor Woos The Witch (Nocturne Falls, #4) available for purchase on Amazon

Another great book from Kristin Painter. At this point I am not surprised anymore, but highly anticipating the next book. After four books, I really feel like I can continue reading this series forever. And I feel like Nocturne Falls is a real place that I would love to visit, or maybe move there permanently. Pandora is a wonderful strong character who does not let life’s misfortunes stop her from enjoying life when life should be enjoyed.

And Cole…. Ah… So far, this is my favourite hero from Nocturne Falls, and when you read the book, you will understand, anything further and I might give spoilers. But I have to say that every facet of Cole, physically and personality wise, is just perfect. Or maybe I am just partial to him because he is my type of guy.

Anyway, moving on to the story, there are some side characters that we met before, and it was nice to meet them again. At some point I hope that most of them will get their own books. There is a villain which I loved to hate and a very nice twist. And last but not least, there is Kaley, a character you will fall in love with because she is just adorable. All in all, this might be my favourite so far in the series. I highly recommend the book and the whole series.

The Witch’s Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) initially published in Spell of the Ball anthology available for purchase on Amazon individually, as the Anthology is not available for purchase any longer

This novella was originally published in Spell of the Ball anthology, which I read because of this story about Stanhill and Corette. It is a beautiful short love story, no villains, just a love story. I loved it because we finally got to know those two great characters better. Kristen Painter is one of my favourite writers in the world and I have read every single book she wrote, so it was only logical I wanted to read this one as well.

The Werewolf’s Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls #4.6) initially published in Hex the Halls anthology available for purchase on Amazon individually, as the Anthology is not available for purchase any longer

This novella was originally published in Hex the Halls anthology and it is featuring Bridget and Sam’s story. Bridget finally got her story. She shows up here and there a bit and a bit more in the second book, where we also meet Sam. It is a short story but not rushed. They are both familiar and lovely characters and now we get to know them better. I can’t wait for the next book and I hope they go on forever.

The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls #5) available for purchase on Amazon

And finally we get to meet the elusive Evangeline and get a closer look at the Elingham family. This time the focus is Sebastian, very serious, grumpy person, who just grows on you. The main female character is Tessa, shy and slightly insecure Valkyrie librarian, who transforms into a person she was born to be. And Evangeline, of course, who is as bad as everyone expected. They are complete opposites and it is nice to see how the story unravels and questions get answered.

We see a little bit of a lot of characters that we met before, which is very nice. It gives continuity to the story. It is also very nice to see how Nocturne Falls develops. I feel like I am walking the streets of Nocturne Falls with the characters and visit the shops, especially Delaney’s Delectables and Villa’s jewellery store. I highly recommend the book; I cannot wait for the next one. It could work as a standalone but then you miss the development of Nocturne Falls and the other characters.

A Vampire’s Valentine Surprise (Nocturne Falls #5.5) initially published in Kiss and Spell: 11 Valentine’s Day Paranormal Short Stories available for purchase on Amazon individually, as the Anthology is not available for purchase any longer

In short, I loved it. When you get to this little gem, you will love it as much as I did. We get to have glimpse of Delaney and Hugh a bit after their story, which was featured in the first book. They are in love as ever and it was great to meet them again. I can’t wait for the next book. Thank you Kristen Painter.

The Shifter Romances The Writer (Nocturne Falls #6) available for purchase on Amazon

Thank you Kristen Painter for this gem! It seems that my wish is coming true as I have already had an opportunity to read the sixth book and several short stories! This is a great book featuring a very hot and wonderful Officer Alex Cruz. He is just an epitome of male perfection. Our female protagonist Roxy St. James we already met in A Vampire’s Valentine Surprise, when she was visiting Delaney.

Roxy has since moved to Nocturne Falls and away from her past life. he only other thing I would like to mention is that Roxy is a writer and some of the thoughts and processes seem oddly familiar, like the author wanted to pay homage to her fans. Thank you for that as well! the Book is wonderful and I highly recommend it. It can be read as standalone as well, but it is definitely better as a number 6 in the series when you already familiarise yourself with all the other characters and the world.

From the first book, and this one is no exception, characters are well developed and the Nocturne falls is growing and evolving and becoming more real with each book.

The Vampire’s True Love Trials (Nocturne Falls #6.5) initially published in Taming the Vampire Anthology available for purchase on Amazon individually, as the Anthology is not available for purchase any longer

This is a novella featuring Sebastian and Tessa we met in The Vampire’s Fake Fiancee. They are in Europe after the events we read about in their novel and their love is put on trial. The story has a beautiful flow and I love the surprise at the end. I will say no more, just that I recommend the Nocturne Falls series by Kristen Painter.

The Dragon Finds Forever (Nocturne Falls #7) available for purchase on Amazon

What an incredibly lovable book! This is my new Nocturne Falls favourite. Ivan Tsvetkov, Van for friends, is one amazing man, smart, intelligent, kind, gentle, strong, and when necessary aggressive giant of a man and a dragon! And Monalisa Devlin is incredibly beautiful. I have no idea how she looks like, I know there was a description, which didn’t register because she is so kind and caring and genuinely good that I only have an impression of her as beautiful. I think this was Kristen Painter’s best female character creation in Nocturne Falls (after Birdie, of course).

As for the story, all I can say is that it  fits the characters. It all happens in few days but it is so incredibly paced that it feels like a nice slow build up that lasts for months. I love them as a couple and I love how Kristen Painter developed their story, slow and exciting and steaming hot without ever going beyond a kiss.Unbelievably hot, I might add. And the ending is fantastic. It is also interesting how their story happens in parallel with the Las Vegas story, maybe because it is the other location, but it feels like their story is developing in the beautiful vacuum of Nocturne Falls, away from the rest of the world.

This time we see Nocturne Falls from yet another side, mostly Van’s beautiful house. Of course there is a mandatory trip to ever present and ever jummy Delaney’s Delectables and Bridget’s bar Howlers. We see a lot of Nick, Willa and Pandora, and a bit of Bridget. There is a new character I liked, Van’s house keeper, sparring partner and assistant in Las Vegas, Harlan a Gargoyle, very likable character, who is hopefully moving to Nocturne Falls in Future. And an unforgettable Grom, Van’s dog. I am seriously considering getting one now.

And of course there is a villain, Monalisa’s father, the Leprechaun King, meanest of them all. I admire how Kristen Painter comes up with such incredibly devious characters. Paidrag Devlin is the meanest, most malicious and most manipulative villains in Nocturne Falls so far. All the other villains were amateurs compared to him. Paidrag has no remorse, no love for his daughter, and no compassion. He is all about greed and doing all it takes to satisfy his greed, even sacrificing his daughter. It is an unbelievable pleasure watching his daughter Monalisa not loosing herself in that negativity. Probably the main reason she is so beautiful. Her inner strength and goodness.

This book is an absolute must read. And although this book could function as a standalone as well, I would never suggest to skip the other books in this wonderful series.

The Vampire’s Accidental Wife (Nocturne Falls #8) available for purchase on Amazon

Finally, Julian settles down. That’s how it seems at first, but it is not without trials and false appearances. We finally get to know the real Julian, how is a lovely complex person, and who is yearning for a partner. Desdemona Valentine, Desi, also a vampire, is an incredibly interesting person with a complicated past. Julian saw Desi on stage in Vegas, while on one of his trip researching for a Wedding Chapel project.

This was the most suspenseful Nocturne Falls novel so far. It was especially intense, as there was potential for greater implications and harm of the whole Nocturne Falls. It was Jayne Frost kind of suspenseful. And in the same expert manner, Kristen Painter resolved it to a beautiful happy end. This is one thing I can always count on, no matter what happens, it is always going to be a happy ending and I will put the book down with a smile on my face.

Apart from Julian, we get to see a lot of Elenora Ellingham and Alice Bishop, and a little bit of the rest of Ellinghams. Sherrif Merrow is here and Birdie is featuring a prominent role in this story. No matter how prominent the role, I always want more of Birdie. Harlan, who we met in the previous book is here again, and would not mind seeing more of him as well.

Nocturne Falls is expanding but always comes back to one spot, Delaney’s Delectables, my favourite spot. At some point, I will need a map to navigate through the town of Nocturne Falls. What started with one or two streets and shops, became a full blown town. It is especially noticeable in this novel, as several of the characters drive around the town frequently with a different purpose.

The Reaper Rescues the Genie (Nocturne Falls #9) available for purchase on Amazon

This was a highly anticipated novel and the expectations were high, and true to her legacy, the author did not disappoint. On the contrary, she delivered probably the best book in the series so far.

With renewed freshness of the approach, the author focuses on Lucian, a retired grim reaper, a familiar and mysterious character often mentioned in previous novels, and she introduces a completely new and lovely character, Imari, a genie in hiding. Their story just proves that the author remains the undisputed queen of paranormal romance. The love story is slow build up, believable and intense, the chemistry is palpable, and the plot complex ad interesting.

Lucian and Imari have to overcome numerous obstacles to be able to settle down, and this is by far the most complex plot in the series. There is an array of familiar and new characters featured in this book, but I have to warn the Birdie fans that she is not present here. Of the new characters, Hattie is my favourite, loving and caring. There is some involvement of the Elligham family, hence Alice Bishop is there. I am hoping for her story some day. Greyson is there as well, and I can’t help but wish for his story to be next. Whoever read Jayne Frost is probably in love with his character as I am, as he is very prominently featured in that series with all his deliciousness.

I have to mention the land of Chaos, where jinn live, which was described so vividly and in such detail that I felt like I was transported there. This was the second time the author decided to take the characters away from Nocturne Falls for a time. Overall, this was a great romance and one of the best stories, if not the best story of the whole series.

I have no idea how Kristen Painter does it, but by now, I cannot imagine my life without visiting Nocturne Falls every few weeks. It is a beautiful place, full of wonderful people and places and she transports me there with every book, and I happily immerse myself in the beautiful world of Nocturne Falls.
